Régulations professionnelles et organisations catégorielles : Pour un dialogue autour des logiques professionnelles

Abstract : Categorical organizations bring together workers who have a similar activity around common professional interests. Several collective organizations are analysed in this issue : Chinese medicine, computer specialists, foresters, nurses, educators, teachers, journalists, and cabin crew. These studies aim at fostering a dialogue between the sociology of professional groups – focused more or less on work activity, group boundaries or professional identities – and the sociology of industrial relations – centered mostly on collective mobilizations and commitments in the workplace. The proposed analytical lens of categorical organizations opens new questions about professions.
