Social Reproduction and Elite Attitudes in Russia

Abstract

In 1998 The Tocqueville Review (Vol. XIX, n°1) published a series of articles which gave a variety of insights into the question of “Who Rules Russia?” Four years later, as President Putin already prepares for his re-election in 2004, we have addressed the issue from different perspectives. The approach is both sociological and political. Each author has a profound knowledge of Russian society, Russian modes of thinking and acting socially, in the recent past as much as in the very immediate present.
