Today, climate change, biodiversity loss, and other environmental problems are high on the political agenda and in public discourse. This has not always been the case; indeed, it is only because of the tireless efforts of many activists, thinkers and pro-environment lobbyists that the environment enjoys the prominence it deserves – although that attention does not necessarily lead to the much needed action, nor do we pay enough attention to the myriad of environmental problems we face today.
