Strategies of Power and the Emergence of Hybrid Mini-Grids in Lebanon
Résumé
This article investigates the operation of collective electricity supply systems, particularly photovoltaic (PV) and diesel local mini-grids, and explores how these sociotechnical innovations strengthen or destabilize local and national solidarity. While this kind of local collective infrastructure has succeeded in guaranteeing energy security on a small scale, access to the technology needed to implement it is unequal, and depends on the capacity of local actors to mobilize economic and political resources.
