En France, les pauvres s'en vont aussi à la campagne

Abstract : The majority of those living in rural areas in France today are low skilled workers (only 7% agricultural) and non-workers of modest means. Rural poverty levels exceed 15% in more than one third of the departments. Given the poor social services and inadequate transportation looking for work is very difficult, especially for youth and women. These areas have become “poverty traps”. Rural development is not helped by the arrival of poor families with modest means fleeing the high cost of housing in urban areas.
