Coopération Sud-Sud et lutte contre la pauvreté : le cas du forum IBAS

Abstract : Despite the increasing power of India, Brazil and South Africa on the international scene and their categorization as emerging powers, the fight against poverty remains a national priority in all three countries. Several policies and initiatives have been put in place at the national and international level simultaneously: the IBAS forum which unites the three is one example. Created in 2003, this new South-South cooperation (India, Brazil, South Africa) links national priorities with the common interests of its members to reduce poverty at the national and international level. Cooperation includes trilateral trade and jointly managing development projects in other developing countries via IBAS poverty and hunger reduction funds. Despite its limitations, the IBAS forum contributes to the legitimization of its members as new global powers.
