Chroniques de la scène frontalière contemporaine

Abstract : The state of contemporary borders is much more dynamic than one is led to believe by discussions about a world made flat by globalization. Politics, geopolitics, economics and demography have all contributed to an increase in the number and visibility of political borders. The issues remain contentious and we can observe an increase in the use of formal legal dispute resolution. Border control regimes are becoming stricter even as they are increasingly dispersed. In sum, efforts at containment go along with a general opening to traffic of all sorts.
