Abstract : The Anti-Sharia & Foreign Law Movement in the United States
This article examines the movement created in the United States in 2010 by a number of conservative think tanks, lawyers’ lobbies and anti-Muslim activists in order to ban all reference to Islamic Law (Sharia) from American courts. The article studies the key players of this movement, the strategies it has used and the arguments it has put forward. It also discusses its negative consequences on the religious freedom of Muslims and Jews in the U.S.
