Les Balkans à la porte de l'UE

Abstract : The Balkans at the door of the EU - There are two ways of presenting the state of relations between the EU and the Balkans countries involved in the European integration process. The first one is just to listen to the European Commission’s reassuring speeches on the enlargement prospect and to the no less confident declarations of the heads of governments of the area. In this perspective one can measure the progress accomplished on the way of the European Union by taking as a reference the annual reports provided by the Commission services which, in accordance with the spirit of “regatta” (everyone is evaluated according to its own merits) give us an idea of the progress made and the list of weaknesses and improvements that need to be made in the race to the EU membership.
