Les groupes d'intérêt au secours de la démocratie ?

Abstract : In this article, the authors analyse the consequences of the emergence of multi-level governance, whereby governments abandon certain tasks by delegating them to supranational levels of governance, specialised agencies or non-state actors. This phenomenon generates problems of legitimacy that cause serious threats to our understanding of democratic governance. An ever increasing number of actors participates in deliberation, decision-making and implementation. After a critical assessment of existing work on deliberative, participative and associative democracy, the authors analyse the modes of participation of French interest group, insisting on the possibilities and limits for a democratic system.
