Le crime organisé en Russie : nouvelles approches

Abstract

Organized crime in Russia - The aim of this issue is to react to the multiplication of discourses on the supposed threat to the contemporary world represented by « transnational organised crime ». Among the different building blocks of this « new evil empire » on a global scale, the criminal organisations of Russia have particularly attracted the attention of leading politicians and managers, officials of international organisations, the police, judges, journalists and researchers during the 1990s. The articles in this issue try to understand in which context and from which sources the knowledge on organised crime in Russia has developed. They also suggest new approaches based upon sociological investigations.
