Commentaire de “Jens Borchert and Jürgen Zeiss (eds), The Political Class in Advanced Democracies: a Comparative Handbook”

Abstract : This book edited by Borchert and Zeiss is an attempt to study on a systematic basis ‘politics as a profession’ in ‘advanced democracies’. It is the result of a long and impressive international work, putting together 20 national contributions including Western European countries as well as Australia, Israel, Japan, New Zealand and the United States. The title of the book is somewhat misleading as its real focus is not the ‘political profession’ nor the ‘political class’ but the legislatures regarded as the core of political systems in industrialised advanced democracies (...).
