Générations résistantes à l’épreuve de la sortie de guerre

Abstract : The French Resisters’ experience of war gave birth to a very specific war culture, which had its own unity. Yet, during the dark years, the Resisters formed four successive generations, that may be differentiated, depending on their motivations, their periods of committment to the Resistance, and their methods of fighting. Each of these generations experienced the return to peace differently, notably the gratitude manifested to them upon their return. Consequently, the too often problematic “end of Resistance” nourished painful and even conflicting memories.
