La nación entre la deconstruccion y la anestesia : el caso europeo

Abstract : This work reflects on the situation and probable evolution of the nation in the European context. Nowadays, the nation is between two tendencies: a) a tendency to deconstruction, meaning the dismantling of the national form; b) a tendency to anesthesia, that is to say, to a supposed forgetfulness of the national contents. This deconstruction accompanied by anesthesia is at the same time a reaction to European historical disasters and a result of the European Union setting up process. On the other hand, the emergency of European supranational phenomenon appears to be a response to challenges raised by global capitalism. Nevertheless, the vitality of nationalism at present day is a matter of fact. Consequently, it is proposed, for the European case, an integration model closest to the one of Swiss confederation rather than that of North American federation.
