The Aesthetization and Sexualization of Nazi Violence in US and Italian Camp Atrocity Movies (1969-1979)
Abstract
The author addresses the “aesthetiziation and sexualization” of National Socialist violence in American and Italian atrocity movies, for example “The Night Porter”, a popular 1974 Italian film by Liliana Cavani, controversial for its depiction of a sadomasochistic relationship between a female prisoner and a camp guard.
