Ce que la loi fait aux victimes : Construction de la figure de la « femme-victime » par la loi contre la violence de genre en Espagne

Abstract : What law does to victims. The “woman-victim” figure construction by the Spanish law against gender violence
In 2004 the Spanish law on gender violence (called “law of holistic protection against gender violence”) has been approved. This text, based on a qualitative research on the judicial space created by this law, examines how its implementation – both in its more spectacular dimensions as well as in its more banal and ordinary ones – contributes to the production of a new figure on the Spanish social space: the “woman-victim”. This proposal is part of a larger research on the recent transformations of the social space of victims in Spain, which is animated by a double movement: it contains a crescent number of subjects and it gets more and more bureaucratized and normalized.
