Modes de gestion des identités dans et par les partis politiques en Turquie

Abstract : Despite prevalent identity tensions, Turkey wishes to present itself as a unitary State. How do political parties with a universalist stance deal with this tension? They avoid publicly relaying identity claims that they consider to be illegitimate, especially at a national level. However, identity is a key component of their relationship to the electorate and of how they manage their political personnel. Therefore, political parties use unique forms of communication that are characterised by ambiguity. Identity therefore slips into the political landscape, but without producing any public demands – in short, without being politicised.
