La faiblesse des mouvements de revendication contre la pauvreté en Afrique sub-saharienne : De la prévalence du plaidoyer à l'action militante globale

Abstract : This article analyzes the role of social movements in the fight against poverty in Africa. It shows that over the past decades the direct impact on poverty of increased activism by organizations has been limited. The internationalization of social movements has led to an international civil society which is extremely active in the fight against poverty and one in which African organizations play an ever greater role. Their participation has revived interest in action at the local level. This article surveys the status of activist social movements in the fight against poverty—a topic that has only solely become of interest to these organizations thanks to a shifting and renewal of fields directly linked to their commitment in struggles—which are born in internationals arenas.
