[...] The chapter is divided into six parts. First, we explore the theoretical underpinnings of the ATT, identifying it as a limited normative framework. Second, we narrow down the scope, exploring the background of the ATT, including its context and the consensus requirement governing the negotiations. Third, we analyse the negotiation process of the ATT before we look at the outcome and key provisions of the Treaty. Fifth, we examine some implications for the academic field, arguing that while there are important overlaps between peace studies and international law, there are also some fundamental differences.
