[...] The remainder of this chapter is divided into three. In the first section, I discuss the relationship between nuclear weapons and peace, assessing the validity of the ‘nuclear peace hypothesis’ and the claim that nuclear arms control and disarmament can only be pursued once favourable international security conditions are in place. In the second part, I explore the evolution of nuclear disarmament law from the United Nation’s first ever resolution to the adoption of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) in 2017.
