Des princes, des docteurs et des vicissitudes économiques en Europe et aux Amériques

Abstract : The last two decades have seen the triumph of « Economism », the integration of economic considerations into the political and social fields. Princes became pedagogue, and wanted to teach, through austerity, nomics to their people. This paper tells the very remarquable story of the evolution of economic theory, of its understanding by the Princes, of what they concluded from it and of what they said about it. It distinguishes clearly rethoric from action, which, as we know, coincide only by chance. It analyses the more recent theories which will lead perhaps to future rethorics. It shows the political understanding of economic theory differs deeply in America and in the European Kingdoms.
