The Political Economy of the Green Movement: Contestation and Political mobilisation in Iran
Abstract
The aftermath of the disputed Iranian presidential elections in June 2009 stunned not only the world but also the leaders of the Islamic Republic. This book brings together nine essays that put the events of 2009 in the context of the Iranian Revolution and the thirty-year experience of the Islamic Republic. Written by experts and scholars, the chapters, on the one hand, shed light on the many transformations that Iran has experienced in the different domains in the thirty years under the Islamic Republic, including politics, economics, and society, and on the other hand, a number of them speculate on the significance of the developments in 2009.
