Une démocratie à part

Abstract : The Fifth Republic is a special regime, and no one denies it whether they approve of it in the name of French originality or regret it as an anomaly. Yet, this specifity has to be made clear. Our form of organization of power offers a great number of appearances, complemented by a degree of reality, borrowed from the main regimes, i.e. parliamentary, presidential, and semi-presidential. In fact, it belongs to a new genre, democratic presidentialism, highly presidentialist but not democratic enough.
