Religious Freedom in Postrevolutionary Tunisia

[...] In this essay I will first discuss the place of religion and religious freedom in the discourse of Nahda in order to show that these categories are not understood as discrete conceptual or lived realities. I will then turn to the discussion of some of the concrete debates that have erupted since the election. I will reflect upon how the increasing attemps to polarize the political field and public sphere are affecting the ways in which political parties and civil society understand notions of religion, freedom, state, and society.
