La mythologie de l’égalité : entre valeur républicaine et féminisme de l’altérité

Abstract : Gender equality has become an inescapable political issue. Promulgating it on November 25th, 2017, as a major cause of his five-year term, President Macron wove a political tale that promotes it as a value of the French Republic. Does this mean that in France, at the beginning of the 21st century, feminism has become a consensus, or has it rather become an element of Newspeak? The article addresses this issue by questioning the topicality, even the modernity, of the paradoxical cohabitation of two intertwined myths, i.e. gender equality and complementarity.
