L’eurasisme et le rapprochement entre la Turquie et la Russie

Abstract : The role of Eurasianism in Turkey and Russia’s rapprochement - Numerous analyses explain the rapprochement between Turkey and Russia by the personal relationship between Vladimir Poutine and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, both having the same temperament and political style. However, this Turkish-Russian reconciliation is based on some old ideological foundations that go back to when the young Soviet Union and Kemalist Republic had difficult relations with the West. Therefore, the renewal of this agreement must be placed in a new context: the two countries now feel once again rejected and the West doesn’t know how to deal with its two Oriental neighbours. However, this agreement is fragile, and its future depends on the evolution of a Syrian crisis that has played a crucial role in the rapprochement between Ankara and Moscow.
