La passion des urnes : à propos de la contribution de Fariba Adelkhah à l’exposition « Images à l’appui/Visual Notes from the Field » (2017)

Abstract : A Passion for Elections: Fariba Adelkha’s Contribution to the Photo Exhibition “Images à l'appui/Visual Notes from the Field” (2017) - In June 2017, a photo exhibition was held at Sciences Po Paris around fieldwork photography. Presenting five series of works, “Images à l'appui/Visual Notes from the Field” aimed to fuel the dialogue between ethnography and photography. Fariba Adelkhah submitted a series of images produced between 2014 and 2016 during electoral contests in Iran and Afghanistan. These images and their captions were consonant with her political anthropology, which has been relentlessly tracking social change through the thickness of its historical and cultural strata, without being intimidated by the apparent weight of Tradition but also without yielding to the sweet song of Development and Reconstruction.
