The Electoral impact of the crisis on the French “working class”: more to the right?
Abstract
This chapter explains the electoral impact of the 2008 financial crisis on the French working class. Drawing from survey data over a period of thirty years, it shows that the crisis has mainly amplified long term trends: the dealignment of manual workers from the Left and their realignment towards the far right, Marine Le Pen drawing even more votes in this occupational group than her father.
