Luoghi e legami. Cosa impariamo da Lampedusa

Résumé

Town planners and social scientists have an intellectual duty to study the emergency sites crossed by a transversal human- itarian crisis. Extreme situations are a unique opportunity to observe the phenomena under construction. In the following pages there is an attempt to answer, which arises from a particular occasion that has allowed to address on the ground issues that have long been under discussion among researchers. The double challenge of the crisis and the tools to face it was in fact addressed on the island of Lampedusa during a workshop organized by the Cycle d’Urbanisme of the École Urbaine Sciences- Po of Paris in May 2016. The observation of the territory allowed to face on the spot broadly global issues, such as the impact of migratory flows in relation to supporting the economy, and the development of the territory in relation to the preservation of the landscape. The report that came out was discussed at an international conference, also in Lampedusa, which saw the mayors of some shelter cities reunited.
