Justiciers amateurs et croisades morales en Russie contemporaine

Abstract : Since the beginning of the 2010s, Russia has seen a marked increase in the number of moral entrepreneurs taking the law into their own hands. These vigilantes develop law enforcement practices to defend a wide variety of causes, filming their raids and posting them on social media to a certain degree of notoriety and popular acclaim. What challenge do these vigilantes pose to official law enforcement agencies? This article will first present the various frontier justice initiatives, examining the concept of vigilantism in the Russian context, and ultimately argue that these practices are not all treated equally by the Russian government.
