Managing Transnational Labour in the Arab Gulf
Abstract
In this chapter, the notion of transnationalism (as framed by international relations theorists Robert Keohane and Joseph S. Nye, Jr.) is used to examine the transnational management of migration. The chapter will therefore look at the hybrid nature of migration management, which involves private and public actors, government agencies and transnational companies, recruitment firms and networks, as well as formal and informal institutions that shape migration flow.
