Analyse de réseaux et histoire de la famille : Une rencontre encore à venir ?

Abstract : The article proposes an overview of the use of notions and techniques deriving from the analysis of formalised networks in the history of the family. The problems raised by this method for studying historical sources are also raised, as is the interest it presents for renewing concepts and testing hypothesis. Furthermore, two directions of research are envisaged: on the one hand, turning around the explanation of individual behaviours (especially migratory) through variables derived from the network, particularly familial network, and on the other hand, centring on the updating of alliance structures, their strategic scope and their dynamics within different communities.
