Abbott et la micro-histoire

This chapter discusses little-acknowledged similarities between the approach of research promoted by Andrew Abbott and that of Italian and French micro-history - and assesses why these similarities have been so little discussed. It focuses on the notion of experiment in sociology and history, the attention paid by those authors to style and narrative and their relationship with models/formalization.

Ce chapitre vise à montrer les similitudes entre les choix de recherche promus par Andrew Abbott d'une part, et ceux des micro-historien.ne.s français.e.s et italien.ne.s d'autre part, tout en expliquant pourquoi ces deux courants se sont jusqu'ici très peu rencontrés. Il met l'accent sur la manière dont ces auteur.e.s promeuvent des démarches expérimentales, accordent une attention particulière aux formes d'écriture et mettent en oeuvre formalisation ou modélisation.
