Quand la faim demeure. Politique et aide humanitaire dans une région marginalisée d’Éthiopie

Abstract : The Wag Himra zone in northern Ethiopia has a history of famine and conflict with the central government. In this remote region, several recent droughts have made the lives of Agaw farmers very precarious and dependent on government food security systems or international humanitarian organizations. This article describes various aid apparatuses that support them, but do not offer sustainable solutions to lift the inhabitants out of poverty, causing them to migrate. Is the government making a deliberate choice not to help the region beyond a perpetual time of emergency? Should international aid organizations leave an area where they do not work independently?
